Hey John,

We’ll get straight to the point: Voting access saves lives.

That’s why, in partnership with Brady and Team ENOUGH, we named our new campaign just that -- Voting Access Saves Lives. Maybe you’re asking yourself how is voting going to stop gun violence? Well, let us break it down and explain why I’m going to ask you to take action and phone bank.

Throughout this pandemic and the recent protests, the whole country has been having lots of tough conversations about the injustices entrenched in our laws and systems. Voting laws are no exception to this systemic injustice. It is no coincidence that the communities facing the most gun violence, disproportionate COVID-19 rates, and broader injustice are also those who are being forced to jump through so many hoops just to exercise their right to vote, like having to stand in a 2+ hour line (during a pandemic!). The more people can vote for the interests, safety, and security of their community, the more our leaders will be held accountable. It’s almost like corrupt politicians don’t want these communities to vote and change the country for a reason…..

Enough is enough. March For Our Lives, Brady, and Team ENOUGH believe that the fight for democracy is the fight for gun violence prevention. That’s where you come in, John -- we need your help to make a difference:

In the 2018 midterms, after the March For Our Lives and the Road to Change tour, a record 46 NRA-backed politicians lost their elections. The following February, the House of Representatives passed the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, the first gun violence prevention legislation in a generation. Of course, the legislation is now gathering dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk. Imagine if instead, we had a gun violence prevention majority in the Senate. And the House. And the White House. And in state houses across the country. That would change everything. ✨

That’s why we’re mobilizing gun violence prevention activists to lobby for expanding voting access across five broad categories:

Vote-by-mail and absentee voting
Online and same-day voter registration
Early voting
Restoring voting rights to people with felony convictions
Personal protective equipment (PPE) for poll workers
