Did You Know?

Texas has two new laws going into effect next week, Dec. 4!

Texas Values had worked for several years to see legislation passed to protect women's private spaces and now Texas finally has a law, SB 8, the Texas Women's Privacy Act that protects women and girls in their most private, intimate spaces such as locker rooms, showers, bathrooms, prisons, and domestic shelters.

Texas Values has also been instrumental in passing laws to protect women and girls’ sports in 2021 and 2023. Additionally, Texas Values helped lead efforts on the Women’s Bill of Rights which defines “male” and “female” in state law. Please visit: protectwomensprivacytexas.com to learn more.

In addition, Texas Values testified in favor of bills to stop the trafficking of chemical abortion drugs. Governor Abbott Signed the law in Texas this past September.

Mary Elizabeth Castle, Director of Government Relations said:

“I am pleased that Governor Abbott has made our pro-life laws even stronger by signing HB 7, the Woman and Child Protection Act. Mailing abortion pills directly to a woman’s dorm room or home where she takes the pills alone often leads to two deaths: the mother and the baby. In Texas, we say “No more” to the illegal trafficking of these dangerous drugs!”

Texas School District Bans Ten Commandments; AG Sues in Court!

Last Tuesday, the Texas Attorney General's office had taken official action against two school districts who have banned the Ten Commandments from their schools. Texas Ten Commandments Law requires the display of the Ten Commandments in public schools. This new law was signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott this past legislative session and went into effect September 1, 2025 but 11 school districts received an injunction from a federal district court to hold off on posting the Ten Commandments in classrooms until the resolution of litigation.

“Singling out and banning the Ten Commandments is a bad look for Round Rock ISD, Leander ISD and any other school district in Texas and it’s also illegal. If these rogue and woke school districts thought we were just going to turn the other cheek on this issue, they found out today that they’re wrong.” - Jonathan Saenz, President & Attorney for Texas Values.

Unfortunately, a handful of Texas school districts will have to remove their Ten Commandments posters due to a federal judge's ruling.

Oral arguments are set for January, 2026. In practical terms, this means that Texas’s law to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms is not stalled or in limbo where school districts can ignore or delay implementation.

"There’s not a single example in 5,800 years of history of a socialist nation that has preserved individual rights and has national prosperity.

We’re unique, we’re special, that’s why history is so important. If we get away from it we won’t know why we’re special.

In Texas textbooks now, K through 5, we have all sorts of Bible excerpts.

We’re already seeing states come to us and say, ‘We want your Texas textbooks!’…we finally have a publisher who’s going to get back to teaching American history the right way." ~ David Barton
