Two executive orders signed earlier this year seek to strip federal
workers — including thousands of VA nurses — of their protected union
rights.
This is a direct attack on workers' rights that will impact the hard-won
collective bargaining agreement that covers over 15,000 union registered
nurses in the Veterans Health Administration.

right to advocate for patients with the guaranteed protections of a union
by voting YES on the Protect America's Workforce Act (H.R. 2550/S. 2837).

A vote on this crucial bill could happen any day now, and we need all of
us to step up. Please forward this email to ask three friends, family
members, or coworkers to join you in taking action.
The
Trump administration’s executive orders illegally revoking federal
workers’ union rights are an outrageous attack on all workers and a
blatant union-busting effort.
In addition to nurses at the VA, these executive orders target public
health workers at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and hundreds of
thousands more at other federal agencies. These orders will make it harder
or even impossible for these federal workers to do their jobs safely and
will negatively affect public health.

Protecting our union rights is urgent for VA nurses and our veteran
patients: an Inspector General report found severe staffing shortages at
the VA had increased by 50 percent in the last year, with nearly 4 out of
5 VA facilities having “severe shortages” of nurses.
We need safe staffing now, and we need to be able to advocate for our
veteran patients with our union protections to resolve safety issues and
advocate for improvements to patient care.
So now is the time when our elected representatives must decide: Do you
stand with nurses and our nation’s veterans, or are you against us?
[ [link removed] ]Please call your member of Congress and urge them to vote yes on the
Protect America’s Workforce Act. You can use the script below, and if
you’re a veteran, federal worker, or other health care worker, please be
sure to mention that in your call.
Hi, my name is [First Name]. I am your constituent, and I’m a ______
(nurse/other health care worker/patient/veteran). I’m calling today to
urge you to vote YES on the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act
(H.R. 2550) which would restore collective bargaining and union organizing
rights for more than one million federal workers, including 15,000 nurses
in the VA. Union rights are fundamental to nurses’ role as patient
advocates. The Trump administration’s executive orders illegally revoking
these rights are an outrageous attack on all workers and blatant
union-busting effort. I urge you to stand up for workers’ rights and safe
patient care for veterans by voting YES on the Protect America's Workforce
Act (H.R. 2550). Thank you.
