Jennifer Konfrst

Hey there, I’m in the middle of preparing for my family’s Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

In case you’re wondering what’s on the menu, my stepmom Betty’s sweet potato casserole and my mom Penni’s apple salad are non-negotiables.

The kids always insist on having deviled eggs and mashed potatoes, so of course, those are happening too.

I’m just hoping that our dog, Clark, doesn’t steal the appetizers off the coffee table during dinner like he did last year!

Our dog, Clark

But as I’ve been cooking, I’ve been reflecting on how grateful I am. And I wanted to take a moment to share a few things that I’m thankful for this year.

• My family. Their unwavering support keeps me going. And I’m so thrilled to have both of my kids and all three of my parents at home for dinner tomorrow.

• Our veterans. They have dedicated their lives to serving our nation. Both my parents served- their selflessness and courage are a constant inspiration to me.

• Our farmers. They work tirelessly to help keep food on our tables – especially during the holidays. Their resilience strengthens every community in our state.

• Our unions. Their constant advocacy for workers’ rights, safer conditions, better wages, and a higher standard of living uplifts all Americans. They’re a great reminder that progress is possible when working people stand united.

• Our teachers. They pour their hearts and souls into uplifting the next generation. Their commitment to education and to our children is truly invaluable.

• Our first responders. They show up every day and face immeasurable pressure to keep our communities safe and healthy. Their willingness to serve is something we should never take for granted.

• Our frontline and service industry workers. Even on holidays, they’re working to keep stores open, serve food, and make sure our communities have what they need. Their dedication often goes unseen, but it makes a difference for us all.

• My supporters. You make it possible for me to keep fighting for every day Iowans. And your belief in me and my campaign means more than you’ll ever know.

The list goes on and on, but one thing remains constant: I have a lot to be thankful for.

I know that we have a long road ahead and a lot of work to do to flip Iowa’s Third Congressional District and take back a Democratic House Majority.

But right now, I hope you use this holiday to rest, recharge, and reflect on what you’re grateful for. And again, please know that I’m truly grateful for you.

Wishing you and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving.
