Dear Friend,

I hope you enjoy this Thanksgiving holiday season surrounded by family and friends. I’m especially thankful that my parents escaped socialism and came to the United States, securing—just as the Preamble to our Constitution promises—the blessings of liberty for themselves and their Posterity.

Thankful for the Volunteer Firefighters Serving Our District

I’m especially grateful to my constituents for the opportunity to serve them and to see the hard work they do every day. Last week, I met with the volunteer firefighters at the Trappe Volunteer Fire Company to learn more about their work supporting Trappe and the nearby communities across Maryland’s First District. We discussed how the federal funding we secured will help strengthen their emergency response efforts. These firefighters serve with extraordinary dedication, often putting themselves on the line for their neighbors, and I’m thankful for these heroes who selflessly volunteer to protect our communities. Their commitment makes a real difference for families throughout Maryland's First District.

Supporting Cambridge’s Rescue Fire Company

Last week, I visited the Rescue Fire Company to meet with the firefighters who serve the Cambridge community and surrounding areas across Maryland’s First District. Their service to this community is remarkable, especially given the challenging and unpredictable situations they face, and I’m grateful for their dedication to keeping our neighborhoods safe. We also discussed their equipment needs and how the federal funding we secured will help support the department as they continue serving families throughout the district.

Strengthening the Bay and Supporting Our Watermen

I also had the opportunity to visit BSA Seafood in Grasonville, one of only four USDA-certified blue catfish processors in Maryland, to see firsthand how operations like this are helping watermen combat the invasive blue catfish. This work is crucial for the health of the Chesapeake Bay and the strength of our seafood industry.
