Donald Trump backed down. Just one day after we filed a lawsuit over his heartless rule threatening to deport international students, he reversed course and decided to rescind the rule.

This is why we sue. The Trump Administration knew this rule was illegal – as well as just plain wrong – and they knew they didn’t have a chance in court against us. If we’ve learned anything from this Administration, it’s that they will come back with a new rule that’s just as senseless and cruel as this one. But we will be ready.

I want to speak directly to the hundreds of thousands of international students across this country who enrich our institutions and strengthen our communities. You don’t deserve to have your education and your futures jeopardized by a lawless president. We will fight for you every step of the way. We won this time but the fight is far from over – let’s get to work.
