Dear Friend,
The holiday season is a time for all of us to come together, give back, and look out for each other. That’s why last week, my team and I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity’s Lansing ReStore, supporting their mission to provide affordable housing and home goods to Michiganders.
This Thanksgiving, I encourage you to find a way to give back to your community. Extend a helping hand to your neighbor, volunteer at an organization in your community, or take time to visit a family member you haven’t seen in a while.
Making sure Michigan families have access to nutritious, affordable meals is one of my top priorities. Recently, I announced that the State of Michigan will provide $4.5 million to the Food Bank Council of Michigan to help feed families this holiday season. If you or someone you know needs nutritious and affordable food, please see the resources below.
As we celebrate this holiday season, I also know that expenses can add up. I want you to know that we will continue to do what we can to lower costs and help Michigan families so that they can enjoy this season with friends and family.
Wishing you and your loved ones a happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,

Volunteer in Your Community
Last week, my team and I volunteered at Habitat for Humanity’s Lansing ReStore, helping clean and organize their facility so they can better serve the community.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and support those in need. Whether you’re donating to a food bank or serving meals at a local shelter, your efforts can make a difference.

You can also give back by donating to your local food bank.
Michigan Food Assistance
My administration has worked to ensure that every Michigander has access to the resources they need to put food on the table, regardless of cuts from the federal government. That’s why I led a group of governors in a letter calling on the Trump Administration [ [link removed] ] to prevent disruption to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
*In Michigan, we look out for one another. Whether you need food right now or ongoing support, there are resources to help:*
* Dial 2-1-1 or visit Find Help - Michigan 2-1-1 [ [link removed] ] for free, confidential assistance and referrals to local food programs and support services.
* Visit the Food Bank Council of Michigan [ [link removed] ] to locate nearby food banks and learn about additional hunger relief efforts.
* Call the Double Up Food Bucks program hotline at 866-586-2796, 9 am – 5 pm ET, Monday – Friday. Until December 31st, the Double Up Food Bucks program, which matches SNAP purchases of fruits and vegetables, will expand access and flexibility so families can build up savings on their Double Up cards. Find a participating location near you: DoubleUpFoodBucks.org/find-a-location. [ [link removed] ]
*To keep helping Michiganders feed their families, I have directed state departments to*:
* Take action to provide $4.5 million to the Food Bank Council [ [link removed] ] of Michigan so they can continue feeding families in all 83 counties and deliver food to those who are unable to drive.
* Provide Michiganders with information to access regional and local programs and resources people can use to get food.
* Continue Double Up Food Bucks [ [link removed] ], a program that gives Michigan families money to purchase groceries, including fresh fruits and vegetables.
* Support Hunters Feeding Families [ [link removed] ], a program that helps Michiganders get venison or other fresh game to feed their families.
* Continue feeding all 1.4 million public school students free breakfast and lunch.
