Email from Urrutia for NH I stand with fellow servicemember Mark Kelly. John, Senator Mark Kelly is a patriot. Mark Kelly served this country with distinction and honor since he was 22 years old, undertaking 39 combat missions in the Navy, then becoming a decorated NASA astronaut and eventually a U.S. Senator. The Department of Defense’s announcement targeting Sen. Kelly alleges “serious allegations of misconduct” and suggests that he could be recalled to active duty “for court-martial proceedings.” But it is a fact that there is no duty to follow illegal orders — this is a concept enshrined in the Code of Military Justice. The fact is that if Sen. Kelly wasn’t a Democrat it is hard to envision us even having this conversation. Sen. Kelly and the other patriots delivering this message did nothing wrong. What’s wrong is MAGA trying to intimidate us into silence. They are using the power and might of the United States government to target and persecute anyone who opposes them. This is an abuse of power that should alarm every single American—including MAGA loyalists who think that they are safe because it’s their “team” in charge. If they can do this to elected officials and political leaders, they can do this to anyone. The Constitution protects all of us from the misuse and abuse of power, regardless of who wields it. These principles should never be tossed aside to serve any individual person, political party, or group. We cannot allow this. I stand with Mark Kelly and my colleagues. The stakes for my race for Congress cannot be overstated: if we lose this district, MAGA stays in control. It’s that simple. Can I count on your support to defeat these fascists at the ballot box?
