Join us for our Holiday Party on Saturday, Dec 13 at 3 PM at CANA!

What a year. Come join us to uplift joy in resistance, celebrate our wins, and gather strength for next year.

On Saturday, Dec 13, at 3 PM, we will host a holiday party for all our members at our general meeting space, 683 Florida (near 19th St). CANA, the organization who owns the space, will be hosting a toy drive, so bring a toy if you can.

As always, all are welcome. Join us for drinks, food, and some actions to close out our year!

Space is limited, so RSVP on Eventbrite.

Due to the holidays, we will not be having a general meeting next month. Our regular general meetings will resume in January 2026.

Also, our friends at 50501SF will be holding a virtual noncooperation training on Dec 3 at 6 PM. RSVP on Mobilize.

We Ain’t Buying It: Join us in boycotting Trump-loving corpos this holiday weekend

From the No Kings Coalition and Bay Resistance comes We Ain’t Buying It: a call to boycott Target, Amazon, and Home Depot over the Thanksgiving Weekend and Cyber Monday. This action is taking direct aim at Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI; Home Depot, for allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts.

From Thanksgiving Day, November 27, through “Cyber Monday,” December 1, we ask that our members do the following:

  • Full Black Out: Don’t buy anything from Amazon or from Target or Home Depot stores during this week. Use the time and money to connect with those you love, and rediscover what matters.

  • Redirect Spending: Shop small, local, or with businesses affirming our humanity.

  • Recruit Your Friends and Family: Boycotts work best when the whole community joins in. For those who want to learn more, send them to the We Ain’t Buying It website.

Urgent CTA this Week: Tell your MoC’s to Allow States to Regulate Artificial Intelligence!

Congressional Republicans are trying to "effectively ban state AI regulation" by sneaking language into the must-pass annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Before a House committee vote next week, tell them no!

Following California's lead, states are regulating artificial intelligence technologies, but President Trump and certain congressional Republicans are trying to stop them. A similar provision to preempt state AI regulation was defeated in July (by a 99-1 vote!). This month, the Trump administration drafted a legally-dubious executive order. Now, Trump has turned to congressional Republicans to ram this through.

Call your Members of Congress and tell them: allow states to regulate AI!

AI technologies are also a good topic to discuss at the Thanksgiving table. AI safety is a less partisan issue, so it's easier to have a productive conversation.

Some things you might want to include in your discussion:

  • Education on how advanced and dangerous AI tools are, including specific capabilities and harms

  • Concerns about Big Tech's recklessness and corruption

  • Framing the federal government's actions as violating states' rights (to experiment with AI safety regulation)

Talking to your friends and family about Trumpism

If you’re gathering with family or friends over the holidays we hope everyone has gotten this year’s vaccine, and we encourage you to have the hard conversations about the right-wing movement to dismantle our democracy and drag us into an authoritarian one-party state.

In that spirit, we bring you, as we do every year, our guide to talking to your friends and family about Trump(ism). We first published this guide in 2018 and it continues to be a helpful resource, especially in this season.

Mayor Lurie is trying to “solicit donations”. Tell your supervisor:  Say NO to corruption!

Mayor Lurie’s office is asking the supervisors to allow him to solicit donations from local businesses to fund downtown revitalization without any oversight.  This would create a huge opportunity for corruption and bribes.  Asking groups who are doing business with the city to donate to the city’s coffers can very easily create a quid-pro-quo scenario, which, as you may recall, was the foundation of the first impeachment of President Trump.  San Francisco has a long history of corruption related to fundraising.

Call your supervisor and tell them to vote no on facilitating corruption!

Submit a Public Comment to Oppose the MAGA Regime's Offshore Oil Drilling Expansion

Last week the MAGA Regime announced an enormous expansion of off-shore oil drilling along the California, Alaska, and Florida's coasts. Overturning President Biden's previous policy, the Trump scheme will open up 1.27 billion acres (almost 2 million square miles) of our coastal waters to oil and gas drilling and extraction.

This assault on our environment will result in massive increases to the greenhouse gas emissions that are already spiking the global warming climate crisis. The MAGA Regime is also revoking and weakening environment and health regulations while slashing and dismantling the EPA and other agencies that protect the public. As history has shown, that means more oilwell blowouts, drilling-rig fires, and pollution spills along our coastline as the fossil fuel industry cuts corners to expand their already obscene profits.

And as history has also shown, while Washington speaks of "selling" and "leasing" these public waters, in fact the oil cartels actually pay just cents of the dollars of their true value, reaping vast profits from "sweetheart deals" that provide the public nothing of value.

Register your opposition to this attack against, our environment, our health and safety, and "We the People."

And read more about it on our blog.

Volunteers Still Needed for Small Business Know-Your-Rights outreach trainings

The campaign to protect vulnerable workers across San Francisco from violent raids by federal agents and strengthen solidarity among merchant associations and chambers of commerce is gaining momentum — but it won’t continue without your help!

Researchers at the UC Merced Community and Labor Center found that during June 2025 alone, large-scale immigration raids in Los Angeles and other urban areas caused a 3.1% drop in statewide labor participation, meaning roughly 465,000 fewer Californians reported working that week. This wave of raids included dozens of operations across small businesses like carwashes, restaurants, and clothing shops, particularly in Los Angeles and Central Valley agricultural hubs. Other urban areas may soon follow, and San Francisco is a potential target.

San Francisco is home to approximately 7,000 storefront businesses and 35 Merchant Associations, and we need more people power to reach them all. Your participation can make a real difference.

  • Join a one-hour volunteer canvassing training to prepare for outreach in neighborhoods across SF, including:  Embarcadero, Excelsior, Bayview, SoMA, Castro, Hayes, Lower Pac Heights, Haight, Noe Valley, NoPa, Sunset, Richmond. You’ll learn how to register small business owners for a free, confidential legal rights training — focused on what to do during federal agent raids, workplace protections and rights, and the legal responsibilities of business owners.

Please register for a one-hour volunteer training session. Sessions are offered:

  • Once you are trained to canvass, you are welcome to canvass on your own, with a trained buddy, or join Jobs With Justice's weekly canvassing team events, held every Wednesday in a different location.  For more information and to join the team, please email [email protected].

  • Invite your family, friends, and networks to take part. Help connect Merchant Association members to the Jobs with Justice Solidarity Campaign — and build a movement to protect our communities. Please have your contacts email [email protected] to find out how they can help keep SF’s small business community safe and strong.

Win: Homeless families thank City leaders for finding Samara a home and urge them to finish the job of ending child homelessness

Samara is a 7-year-old girl with complex medical conditions that required multiple surgeries this summer. Samara and her family spent two years living in shelters and were told they did not qualify for any housing assistance under the City’s “coordinated entry” system, where a computer allocates points to determine who deserves aid. (see also this video featuring Samara and her mom) But after months of community organizing by homeless families, the City offered Samara’s family placement in affordable housing. The family recently moved in, and now Samara has a safe, dignified home!

Samara’s parents and other homeless families, along with public school educators, thanked the City leaders for the progress they have made and encouraged them to keep up the good work to finish the job of ending child homelessness in San Francisco; over 3,000 children and their families remain unhoused.

Earlier this year, the homeless families published a report, “Ending Child Homelessness in San Francisco: A Budget Proposal from Homeless Families,”outlining a proposal to end homelessness among children with $66 million in targeted investments. In July, the Mayor and Board of Supervisors agreed to invest $30 million in new funds for family homelessness and to end an experimental policy of evicting homeless families from shelters.

Faith In Action Bay Area leaders thank Indivisible SF for their continued allyship.  Your calls and emails make a difference!

We still need you to call your Supervisor and Mayor to urge them to work on ending child homelessness.

Call or email the mayor and your district supervisor to:

  • Thank them for securing housing for Samara and her family

  • Urge them to keep working and find full funding to end child homelessness in SF.

We sent a letter to our MOC’s on the appalling Ukraine “peace proposal”. Senator Schiff’s staff responded.

Last week, the US State Department issued an outrageous “peace plan” essentially selling Ukraine back to Russia, 3 years after Russia invaded and continues to occupy a large portion of the country, with ongoing deadly attacks. With criticism from the international community and continued work to make this “plan” align with Ukraine’s goals for liberation, we need our Members of Congress to show strength on being an ally to Ukraine.

Our federal team sent this letter to our Members of Congress, urging them to reject the so-called peace plan and publicly denounce it. We heard back from Senator Schiff’s staff. They said that Schiff agrees with us and will continue to do everything he can to fix the peace plan proposal.

Want to help us do this work?

We will plug you in where your skills can do the most good to resist this administration.

If you would like to join and do important work with us, we welcome you! Currently we are in need of volunteers to help with the following:

  • Making artwork for our calls to action, blog posts, and other projects.

  • Maintaining our website, newsletter, and Zoom account.

  • Posting our events to Funcheap, Indybay, Broke-Ass Stuart, and other local blogs.

  • Maintaining our social media platforms including Mastodon, Bluesky, TikTok, Meta, and more.

  • Joining and building out an on-the-ground flyering team. We’re looking to distribute information on our events in the real world. We want people who can print and post flyers around their neighborhood. It’s a great way to get your steps in.

  • Publishing our newsletter with MailChimp on Newsletter Night (Tuesdays at 5 PM).

  • Making short-form videos to help educate people on our topics in an accessible way.

  • Tracking federal, state, and local legislation and working with our state and local legislatures and Mayor Lurie.

No experience is needed; we will train you and provide everything you need. If you would like to help us, please contact us at [email protected].
