A federal court in New Hampshire has ruled in favor of our clients in LWVNH v. Kramer, the first major voter-intimidation case involving AI deepfakes. The ruling:
Confirms violations of the Voting Rights Act and state election laws;
Awards damages to the voters harmed; and
Permanently bars the defendant from using AI-generated robocalls to intimidate voters in any future U.S. election.
This is a major win, not just for New Hampshire, but for democracy nationwide.
But the threat is growing. Technology is evolving faster than the law. And without aggressive legal action, bad actors will continue trying to mislead voters with AI-powered disinformation.
