In every generation, Canadians have taken the work of building this country further. We created universal healthcare. We protected our rights through the Charter. We strengthened equality in our laws and in our public life.

But there is one nation-building project we have never finished.

We have never completed the work of creating a voting system built for fairness, stability, and cooperation. A system that strengthens our democracy so it can carry us through the challenges ahead. A system worthy of the people it serves.

Right now, our voting system lags behind the country we have become. First Past the Post hands governments false majorities and leaves millions without a real voice. It makes it easier for political leaders to divide Canadians instead of bringing people together. And it weakens our ability to act on the issues that will define our future.

A modern country needs a modern democracy. And Canadians are ready for it.

Canadians want a Parliament where cooperation is normal and expected, not punished. They want representation that reflects the full diversity of voices across this country. They want a system strong enough to deliver progress that lasts.

This is Canada’s unfinished nation-building project. And Greens are the ones ensuring it does not get pushed aside or forgotten.

While others talk about electoral reform when it serves them, Greens are the only party that treats it as core nation-building work, not a bargaining chip.
