That was the night we won our first primary race for Congress.
Just a few years before that moment, nobody would have guessed that a Muslim, refugee, woman of color could win a seat on the national stage.
But we shattered all of those expectations, and shattered some glass ceilings, too.
And we did it through the sheer power of progressive community organizing and a commitment to a bold, forward-thinking agenda for Minneapolis and the entire nation.
August 11th, 2026.
That’s the day our campaign will be tested once again, and voters will head to the polls to decide if they will reelect me and our movement.
Eight years after that fateful night in 2018, I want to prove that our campaign is not only ready to win once again, but that our movement has grown bigger, stronger, and even more committed to defeating the far-right and passing our progressive agenda.
So, August 11th may be a good few months away, but we have to start preparing right now for the tough fight ahead.
We could be up against multiple challengers, with outside spenders like AIPAC swooping in to try to buy this race with millions of dollars in attack ads. We can’t be caught off-guard when the stakes are this high.
