Happy Thanksgiving from Becket

As Thanksgiving approaches and we count our blessings, our team at Becket is deeply grateful for friends like you who stand with us in defending religious liberty for all. And if you haven’t already, we recommend reading our Founder Seamus Hasson’s The Feast of the Intransitive Verb which remains as timely as ever.

This month, that fight has brought the Archdiocese of Denver, a group of Catholic preschools, and a Colorado Catholic family to the steps of the Supreme Court, asking the Justices to stop the state from breaking its promise of “universal” preschool by excluding faith-based providers simply because they operate according to their religious beliefs. In St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy, the Tenth Circuit not only upheld Colorado’s discriminatory exclusion—it praised the state’s regime as a “model” and “example” for the rest of the nation to follow. With your support, Becket is helping these courageous parents and schools urge the Court to reverse that dangerous decision and reaffirm that religious liberty remains the cornerstone of all our freedoms.

Together, we are building lasting precedents that will protect churches, schools, ministries, and families not just today, but for generations to come. Thank you for being part of this shared work of protecting our first freedom.
