This week, we’re full of thanks for every donor who has given generously and every volunteer who has stood beside us in the fight against hunger this year. Thank you to those of you who have given to our year-end campaign, The Gift That Fills ([link removed] ) , to fuel transformation in communities around the world — communities like the Karonga district of northern Malawi, where a mother named Nelly is writing a new story for her family and her future.

When Nelly first began farming, her harvests were small and unpredictable. Most days, her family could only afford two meals — and the fear of running out of food loomed constantly. But that changed when she joined our Harvesting Prosperity and Resilience project, which helps farmers strengthen food and nutrition security through sustainable agriculture.

Through the program, Nelly learned new, climate-smart farming methods — and within one year, her yields skyrocketed. She began growing maize, sesame, cowpeas and rice, feeding her family nutritious meals and selling surplus crops at market. Her new income paid for her children’s school fees and even a small business selling homemade mandasi (African doughnuts).
