Cooper Vetoes Bad Billboard Bill

Gov. Cooper rejected a bill that would let the billboard industry clear trees against local governments' wishes, among other ills. The vote was close enough that the veto is likely to stand if an override is even attempted.



Duke’s Rate Hike Scheme Stripped from Bill

Duke Energy's attempt to raise your rates for years at a time failed for now. The House turned that section of the bill into a study, and now pressure is on the Senate to concur with this welcome change.



LCV Speaks Out in Special Election

LCV and other national environmental groups are airing ads to support Dan McCready in North Carolina's Ninth Congressional District special election, and you can get involved.
