John,

Although Congress voted to end the longest shutdown in U.S. history, millions will lose affordable health care unless Congress restores the ACA tax credits. These tax credits are what keep health insurance affordable for our communities. If Congress doesn’t act, premiums could double overnight, forcing people to skip medications, delay care, or lose coverage entirely.

Democrats held the line for 43 days to fight to secure these protections, a small group of Democrats in the Senate failed to help Black families and caved with only a promise for a vote, securing no real gains for everyday Americans. We expect better from our leaders who claim to stand with our communities.

Color Of Change is always committed to organizing the pressure against Congress and not just observing it. It’s time to hold Congress accountable and make sure they vote and approve the ACA tax credits for our communities.

TELL CONGRESS: RESTORE ACA TAX CREDITS NOW

Earlier this month voters delivered a clear mandate for leaders who will fight for them. But too many in Congress treated the election as the finish line, not the call to action it was. We are ready for leaders to address affordability of housing, healthcare, and everyday goods. We are not looking for leaders who will cave and defect on the things that matter most.

Black communities will pay the highest price.

Nearly 1.8 million Black and Hispanic people could lose coverage.

More than 56% of Black adults already carry medical debt, and losing these tax credits, combined with cuts from the One Big Ugly Bill, will deepen the crisis.

We cannot allow Congress to walk away from Black communities again. We cannot allow life-saving health care to become a bargaining chip.

PROTECT HEALTH CARE FOR BLACK FAMILIES: [link removed]

Speaker Mike Johnson has made no commitment to bring a vote on the ACA tax credits next month.

We know that Black communities have always led our democracy forward. We need to use our voice to demand a vote and get these life-saving tax credits across the finish line. Join Color Of Change and tell Congress to restore the ACA tax credits now.

Until Justice Is Real,
