Minnesotans are concerned about fraud, waste and abuse in Medicaid programs. We know many want a better understanding of our work and its challenges.
We’ve launched a new website at mn.gov/dhs/program-integrity to support transparency in our work. It details how we’re strengthening fraud prevention, detection and enforcement. The new site provides:
- Clear definitions for fraud, waste and abuse
- A timeline of actions taken
- Key decisions made that support transparency, prevention, detection and enforcement
- Information on preliminary investigations, cases opened, law enforcement referrals and administrative actions.
Alone and in collaboration with other state agencies, our department is tasked to execute 16 directives from Governor Tim Walz’s recent Executive Order (PDF) to prevent fraud, waste and abuse in state programs. Through these directives we strengthen program integrity across the state.
The work of safeguarding Medicaid dollars is not done in isolation; it requires partnerships with lawmakers, law enforcement, care providers, Tribal and county governments, and concerned citizens.
We will continue to inform Minnesotans about current actions to prevent fraud, waste and abuse — when it won’t compromise our investigative work or reveal private data.
Learn about our zero-tolerance approach to fraud, and how you can report suspected fraud, at mn.gov/dhs/program-integrity.
While the holiday season can be a time for joy, reflection and connection, it can also bring many stressors: from loneliness and financial concerns to triggers for those in recovery from substance use disorder.
Always remember, you are not alone. Help is available.
