Hi John,

Next week is #GivingTuesday and we’re inviting you to help us raise $100,000 before the end of this year ([link removed]) .

A lot has changed since CC's founding nearly 25 years ago. New technologies are transforming how we create, distribute, access, and interpret knowledge. They are also changing how information is controlled on the internet. AI systems are built on the commons and trained on centuries of human thought and culture. What started as a promise of better technology and even more access to knowledge is putting all that we’ve built at risk.

Only a handful of organizations are well-positioned to respond to this challenge. So we’re stepping up. Most recently, we introduced CC signals, a framework that empowers dataset holders to indicate conditions for how they want their data to be used in AI model development. This effort is big, on par with efforts undertaken back in 2002 to launch our first set of CC licenses, and will require a large amount of resourcing, over many years, to make happen.

That’s why we need your support.

#GivingTuesday is a week away. Here are some ways you can help:

Donate
* Make a ([link removed]) one-time donation ([link removed]) — any amount, small or large, makes a difference!
* Make an annual, recurring donation ([link removed]) and secure membership in our Open Infrastructure Circle

Share
* Share our donation page and why you support Creative Commons on LinkedIn ([link removed]) , BlueSky ([link removed]) , or Mastodon ([link removed]) .

Thank you!
