While it’s a tumultuous time in our country, there’s some good news coming out of this month’s elections. Arizona Democrat Jay Ruby has won a seat on the Prescott City Council!

I’m Lindsay, Jay’s campaign manager. And I need you to know that what we accomplished in rural Arizona represents an undeniable shift in our political landscape. Prescott hasn’t elected a Democrat to city council since 2013.

Let me say that one more time: Prescott, Arizona hasn’t elected a Democrat to city council in over a decade. Until now...

Two of our Republican opponents had financial backing from a far-right PAC and another had a public endorsement from the Republican mayor-elect. With the money we raised from a majority of small-dollar donors, we hustled to reach as many voters as possible - at their front doors, at community events, in their mailboxes, and on their phones. Jay beat the next Republican candidate by 170 votes because we worked our tails off for nine months.

But the conversations we’ve started in Prescott can’t end with Jay’s campaign.
