Hi, my name is Beth Macy, and you might know me as the author of Dopesick,
Factory Man, and Paper Girl.
Now I’m reintroducing myself, because I’m running for Congress right here
in VA-06 — the beautiful district my husband and I call home. I’m hoping,
with your help, we can fire MAGA extremist Ben Cline, and flip VA-06 from
red to blue.
[ [link removed] ]Are you in? You can become a founding donor to my campaign today by
splitting a contribution between my campaign and Blue Amp Action right
now. Whether you donate $50, $25, or even $10, every dollar counts as we
launch this historic campaign!

Growing up, I didn’t have it easy. My mother worked in a factory, and my
father was chronically unemployed due to his alcoholism. My mother
sometimes struggled to pay our bills and put food on the table — two
things that I know people in VA-06 are no strangers to.

But I was made by my community — the teachers and adults in my life who
helped me thrive in school and apply for college scholarships. I became
the first person in my family to go to college, and I went on to become an
award-winning newspaper writer and, at the age of 50, a best-selling
author. It felt miraculous.
I’m a product of the American Dream.
But it’s becoming increasingly harder to forge a better life. College
tuition has tripled, healthcare is more expensive than ever, and the
middle class is disappearing right before our eyes.
As a journalist for forty years, I’ve always sought to hold power
accountable. From covering stories about addiction to offshoring jobs to
civil rights, I’ve never been afraid to ruffle feathers and tell the
unvarnished truth.
It’s that passion for listening and honesty that I will bring with me to
Congress to fight for the people of VA-06. And it’s never been
more needed.
For the past seven years, Ben Cline has refused to stand up for us in
Congress — a job teed up for him by his father-in-law and wealthy elites.
Instead, he’s supported tariffs, raising healthcare premiums, tax cuts for
the ultra-rich, and gutting SNAP benefits. What kind of leadership is
that?
His time is up.
[ [link removed] ]So John, if, like me, you believe VA-06 is ready for change,
will you pitch in today and split a contribution with my campaign and Blue
Amp Action? We can build a real movement of everyday Virginians who are
just as fired up as I am.
