I want to tell you about a leader in Georgia who’s one week away from
winning a runoff to become the youngest member of the General Assembly:
Akbar Ali.

Akbar is a 21-year-old small‑business owner, a proud graduate of Kennesaw
State University, and a former First  Vice Chair of the Gwinnett County
Democratic Party.

Earlier this month, he advanced to the runoff in Georgia’s House District
106. That runoff takes place in just one week so we need all hands on deck
to help him win.

Akbar’s campaign is rooted in his home of Gwinnett County, where he says
leadership means listening and being present in neighborhoods — not just
showing up on day one.

Here’s what Akbar is fighting for:

✅ Fully funding our public schools — better pay and real support for
teachers, ensuring classrooms have what they need.

✅ Protecting rights and dignity for every Georgian — including trans
rights, immigrant communities, and LGBTQ+ neighbors.

✅ Lowering costs for working families — from housing and healthcare to
strengthening the scholarships and expanding access to education.

✅ Making sure our neighborhoods show up — he’s served on transit advisory
boards, been involved in school PTAs, and is rooted in community
organizing.

Akbar is exactly the kind of young progressive leader we set out to build
this movement around. He’s truly a leader we deserve. And we’re all in on
this race.
