Hey folks! Rita Hart here.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner! The time has come for stuffed turkeys, mashed potatoes with too much gravy, and succulent pumpkin pie to finally make their reappearance. For me, there’s nothing better than enjoying the entire weekend with my kids and grandkids – especially when I win the card games!

The best part about Thanksgiving is taking the time to appreciate and express to others how thankful we are for the things that really matter to us. We here at IDP are thankful for a lot, so much in fact that it’s better to just list them, lest this newsletter distract from the festivities to come:

We’re thankful for the excellent candidates who overperformed in this year’s special elections.

We’re thankful for the proud Iowans who stepped up to save our state and country in 2026.

We’re thankful for our volunteers, who work rain or shine to elect Democrats across the state.

We’re thankful for our donors, who keep the organization running and our employees working.

We’re thankful for everyone who joined us at our regional events throughout the year.

And we’re thankful for all of you, who’ve been with us every step of the way.
