Hi friend, 

I know it’s easy to turn on the TV and feel frustrated – maybe even powerless – with everything going on in our country. In moments like this, it can feel like the forces trying to divide us are louder than ever. But I believe, and know from experience, that deep and shared values continue to matter and can unite a divided community, or country. 

We share a belief in fairness, in opportunity, and in the premise that everyone should have a chance to succeed no matter where they start in life. We share a commitment to freedom – not just as the absence of overbearing government but as a positive capability to build the life of one’s choosing.

These shared values are at the core of our country’s promise. And they’re very much at stake in our democracy today. Across the nation, there are candidates and communities working every day to put those values into action – defending voting rights, protecting freedom, and creating a future where everyone counts.

That’s why I’m focused on bringing people together: supporting leaders up and down the ballot who believe in our shared ideals, having real conversations that center our shared values and provide a space for us to listen to each other, and building a movement that responds to cynicism with action and conviction.
