Democrats used to believe this district was out of reach. But in 2018, I came within 4 points of defeating the Republican incumbent, Michael McCaul. This time with the support of the PCCC, Sunrise Movement, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and many local and national unions, I’m confident that we can finish the job.

As an Austin city attorney, I took on Texas Republicans to demand gun reforms. As a civil rights lawyer, I sued employers on behalf of women who experienced workplace discrimination and whistleblowers who suffered retaliation.
I'm running on a progressive platform to fight for equal opportunity and social justice and to replace Michael McCaul, one of the wealthiest and most conservative members of Congress. McCaul votes with Trump 96.4% of the time.
He also has a head start on fundraising. He is sitting on over a million dollars to spend attacking me. So while we celebrate, we also have to look ahead to the general election this fall.
This district is one of the country’s top battlegrounds. And, Texas overall is becoming more and more winnable for Democrats. Joe Biden recently started running ads here. That means that what we do to Get Out The Vote in this district will help in the presidential election too.
