First: After Donald Trump demanded it, Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans enacted gerrymandered maps that would steal five seats from Democrats. Powered by People—and thousands of everyday Texans—organized, spoke out, and took action. We mobilized volunteers, hosted rallies, protested at the Capitol, and fought back against this power grab and attempt to rig the midterms.

Then: A federal court BLOCKED these maps after ruling they were racially gerrymandered. The court said that the old Texas maps needed to be used instead.

Now: Greg Abbott has appealed to the Supreme Court, and the Court just put a temporary hold on the ruling—letting the gerrymandered maps move forward for now. It shows exactly why we can’t stop our work: when we organize, we win—but the other side will do everything it can to overturn those wins.

Texans don’t back down. Not when our future is on the line. Not when our democracy is under attack. And definitely not when Abbott and Trump are doing everything they can to rig our elections in their favor.
