Last week, I collected my Parliamentary Bill calling for the UK to negotiate a new customs union with the EU - the single biggest step we can take to boost our economy.

The UK is suffering from anaemic growth and a cost-of-living crisis.

The Conservatives’ botched Brexit deal, championed by Nigel Farage, has shattered trade with our closest partners, buried British businesses in red tape, and pushed up prices.

A new customs union would remove these barriers, help tackle inflation, and raise over £25 billion a year for the Exchequer - money desperately needed for public services and support for those struggling.

It would also put us on the path back to the Single Market, from which many other benefits would come.

Last week, I wrote to Labour MPs urging them to support my Bill so we can end years of stagnation.

Despite finally admitting the Brexit deal has harmed our economy, the Labour Government has taken no action to fix it.

Promised measures announced at their ‘reset’ with the EU earlier this year - from a Youth Mobility Scheme to a Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) agreement - have gone nowhere.

When the Chancellor sets out her Budget tomorrow, there’ll be one big elephant in the room - our partnership with the EU.

My Bill is a chance for the Government to put things right.
