John,
Let’s start with the (very) good news:
Sunday was one of our strongest fundraising days in weeks. More than 100 people chipped in — a meaningful boost and a real dent in our 1,200-donor goal for November.
That momentum matters. It shows people value COURIER’s reporting at a time when misinformation is everywhere — and when legacy outlets like Jeff Bezos’ Washington Post are bowing to Trump, including the Post editorial board’s bizarre praise for Republicans who voted to keep the Epstein files hidden.
Now the bad news:
Even with that surge, we still fell short of our mini-goal of 150 donors. And falling behind right now has real consequences.
Here’s why:
COURIER’s reporting is reaching millions every week — especially in the online spaces and battleground states where MAGA misinformation is spreading fastest. But rapid-response journalism requires real resources. When we fall behind on our donor targets, we have to scale back coverage at the exact moment people are counting on courageous journalism to push back against MAGA disinformation.
So here’s our new goal to stay on track:
We need 200 more donors by Wednesday at midnight to remain fully funded for the month.
If you’re able, your support today would make a real impact:
Or any amount that works for you
This isn’t just about hitting a number. Your donation powers the work that keeps millions informed. We just passed 5 million followers on social media and we want to keep the momentum going.
Hitting 200 more donors by Wednesday keeps all of that on track.
Thanks for reading — and for anything you can do today.
