Dear Supporter,
Buses connect us to the people we love, the things we need and the places that matter. But in many places, buses aren’t working. Services are infrequent, unreliable, or non-existent – as David, a Campaign for Better Transport supporter from Wiltshire, knows only too well.

"I live in a small village. We have a limited bus service Monday to Friday, but it simply does not go or return when we need it, and we have nothing at all in the evenings or Sundays. Without certainty of travel in both directions it is not of much use and makes it impossible to have a social life without access to a car. I'm 78 now and do wonder what will happen when I can no longer drive.
"My wife had a hospital appointment today and I dropped her off by car. We planned that she would return home by bus, but traffic congestion and late buses put paid to any connections, so it was another car trip to Salisbury park-and-ride to pick up there.
"Now I see on the local news that another local route is stopping. Villagers are up in arms over the loss of any sort of bus service. While many urban areas are thriving, rural services are being cut as councils no longer have the money to support them. There has to be a better way."

We're working with the Government, bus companies and local councils to improve bus services across the country and ensure that every community has a bus service it can rely on.
Can you donate to help us improve and increase services, and bring back buses to every community?

With your help, we just took a big step towards better buses
We sprang into action when the Transport Select Committee – the group of MPs which advises the Government on transport policy – began an inquiry into improving buses. We submitted written evidence, and we were invited to come in and speak directly to the Committee.
When the Committee published its final report, we were thrilled to see that it included our key asks. It recommended that the Government should publish guidance on minimum service levels to ensure that every community has a usable bus service and properly fund local authorities to provide them. And it recommended having a national standard for bus stops, as we called for in our Better Bus Stops report.
We are so glad to have been able to get these important asks in front of the people who shape our transport system. We couldn't have had this influence without our wonderful supporters, so thank you.
Please donate to Campaign for Better Transport today to help us continue this crucial work in 2026.

"I recently had to take my son to an appointment somewhere I had not been before, and whilst I managed to work out which bus to get, the stop was not clear and we ended up getting off the bus late and having to walk back, making us late for our appointment. Afterwards, it was not clear which bus stop we needed to get back home, as there was little information on display."
