This Black Friday, Boycott Trump's Collaborators

It’s Thanksgiving week, which means that on Friday, Americans will head to the stores to engage in hand-to-hand combat with a mother of four over a Tickle-Me-Elmo in an orgiastic spree of consumerist indulgence that will fill the coffers of giant corporations. But this year, Black Friday comes with an unpleasant twist that should have all of us reconsidering our spending habits, taking a stand for the victims of Trumpian bigotry, and sending a message to Corporate America that it cannot ignore.

Time to log on.

Since taking office for the second time, Trump has gone full fascist in a terrifying, rapidly escalating assault on the rule of law, human rights, and basic human decency. While everyday Americans hold the line and resist to the best of their abilities, Corporate America has fallen over backwards in its eagerness to surrender to Trump and cooperate with the dismantlement of our democracy.

While the list of collaborators is long, activists have singled out a trio of giant corporations for their disgraceful capitulation to Trump.

The giant tools at Home Depot enable ICE terrorism by allowing Trump’s jackboots to violently detain and kidnap workers on its properties.

Target caved to a bad-faith MAGA smear campaign claiming that the store was targeting children by promoting Pride merchandise and canceled all of its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Their earnings have declined for three consecutive quarters, thanks to backlash from the public.

@alexscharWhen you google conditional allyship Target, comes up. Thank you @them for sharing the amazing article! #greenscreen #lgbt #targetlgbt #targetpridecollection #targetpride

Amazon’s web services provide critical infrastructure for ICE’s horrifying mass deportation regime and concentration camp network, while founder Jeff Bezos uses our money to purchase influence with Trump and fund his vanity projects, like a $100 MILLION donation to Trump’s stupid ballroom.

@laboronthelineWhat does Amazon have to do with ICE? Amazon Web Services provides critical tech infrastructure for the mass deportation machine, but the shipping and warehouse workers that make Amazon run are organizing to stop ICE! Sign their petition here: bit.ly/WorkersAgainstICE

With the biggest shopping day of the year approaching, it’s the perfect opportunity to make our disapproval known. That’s why Indivisible is organizing a mass boycott of Amazon, Target, and Home Depot from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, which we hope you and your family will join.

Instead, you could try shopping at somewhere like the Minocqua Marketplace, a Wisconsin-based “collective” of ONLY pro-democracy, anti-Trump small businesses, where a portion of the profits goes to support Democrats and the fight against Trump.

That’s a much better proposition than shopping at Home Depot or Amazon, where your hard-earned money will go to reward oligarchs who work hand-in-hand with the Trump administration to brutalize abuelas and force innocent immigrants to suffer horrendous conditions in ICE’s gulags.

Resisting an authoritarian regime will take all of us to do our part; solidarity with our communities and our collective unity are our greatest weapons. This can take many forms; sometimes, it’s direct action like getting a group of your friends to go to Home Depot to continually buy and return a 17-cent scraper over and over again to bring their operations to a crawl; sometimes it’s something as simple as just not buying stuff from Amazon on Black Friday.

Join us in boycotting Amazon, Target, and Home Depot and let them hear loud and clear:

When you support Trump, we don’t support you.
