Friend,
My name is Randi DiAntonio, and I’m a proud member of the New York State Public Employees Federation in Rochester. As a social worker, and as one of the leaders of my local, I know how much of a difference unions make in creating economic opportunity for American families. Unions make sure that workers have a safe environment and that they can put food on the table, cover rent or a mortgage, and save some money to retire with dignity.
As we get closer to Thanksgiving and gather with our loved ones, we don’t just give thanks, but we give back to people who need it the most.
Please take five minutes to write to your members of Congress and tell them to support the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act to restore union rights to federal workers.
These workers are the nurses who care for our veterans at VA hospitals, the case managers who make sure our parents and grandparents get the Social Security benefits they need to pay rent, and the scientists who make sure our water is safe to drink at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Federal workers have dedicated their careers to making sure folks like us have everything we need to thrive. They deserve the same respect, protections and rights on the job that we have through our union—and if it’s passed, the Protect America’s Workforce Act would make that possible.
Being in a union is critical for workers who serve the public. As a public employee myself, I can tell you that workers like us need to be able to speak up and advocate for ourselves and our communities when what’s happening could put people in danger. Unions offer us strength in numbers to better serve our neighbors and protect us when we put the needs of people first.
I know how important my union has been to me. And I believe every worker deserves the rights, power and peace of mind that come with a union. That’s why I’m asking my lawmakers to pass the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act—and I hope you’ll join me.
Thank you for all that you do. I wish you and your loved ones a healthy, happy holiday season.
In unity,
Randi DiAntonio
