The Supreme Court is on the verge of overturning Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, which could unleash a new surge of the GOP’s racially discriminatory redistricting.

By gutting representation for Black and brown Americans, the Republican Party could tilt 19 House seats in their favor. That’s enough to cement one-party rule in the U.S. House for generations.

But it’s not a foregone conclusion. Far from it. Those maps would need to get passed by state legislatures — so we’re ready to fight the MAGA power grab by electing Democracy Champions to those critical state-level positions.

This year, we’ve already worked alongside Mississippi partners to help break a Republican supermajority in the State Senate.

We’ve got a winning model of targeted, timely outreach and voter protection. But we need to be able to fight for democracy on multiple fronts — and that takes real resources.
