Friend, at the start of the year, when Trump first took office, DOGE came on the scene acting like all-powerful dictators.
Elon Musk and his team of unqualified college kids took a wrecking ball to the federal government, illegally slashing funds, cancelling grants, firing workers, stealing data, and shuttering entire agencies.
But now, just months later, it is DOGE who is being shuttered. And we need to be clear: DOGE was a complete, abysmal failure.
Among their list of “accomplishments”:
Destroying USAID and its lifesaving programs, causing hundreds of thousands of preventable deaths around the world
Cancelling crucial grant funding for education, green energy, cancer research, women’s health, veteran’s services, and more
Making the Social Security Administration less efficient, making it harder for people to collect their benefits
Firing thousands of critical federal workers, costing Americans hundreds of billions in lost productivity
Failing to actually reduce the deficit or deliver savings back to the American people
So what’s the lesson here?
Well, billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump always say that the government should be run like a business. The DOGE saga proves just how stupid that is.
It turns out that DOGE did the opposite of what it intended: Through its incompetence, it reminded all Americans how important it is to have effective and thoughtful leadership in government that seeks to use government agencies and funding to serve Americans, not just cut cut cut for the sake of it.
I have stood against DOGE and the GOP’s agenda from the start. From cutting federal agencies to cutting funding for your health care plans, Trump and Republicans in Congress are doing everything they can to drive up the cost of living and make government inefficient.
As we fight to win back power in Washington and undo Trump’s cruel agenda, I’m counting on everyone in this movement to do their part and to help us make the case for a government that truly provides for the people.
The next year will be a fierce struggle to decide the future of our country: More DOGE and devastation? Or a bold agenda that delivers affordability for all. If you’re with me in that struggle, please chip in $5 or whatever you can afford today to power our efforts and help us beat the far-right next November.
