Dear Neighbor,
In case you missed it: last week, I spoke on the House floor in support of Congresswoman Maria Salazar’s (FL-27) resolution H.Con.Res.58. This resolution denounces socialism and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States. The resolution passed with bipartisan support (285-98-2), but 98 House Democrats refused to join us in denouncing socialism.
Socialism is merely Communism-light, and as someone whose mother fled Communist Cuba in 1959, I understand firsthand how socialist policies erode prosperity and freedom, robbing hopes and dreams. Unfortunately, here in the United States, we’re seeing similar radical left policies take root in our own city with the election of a self-declared socialist who has embraced the communist ideas of Karl Marx including seizing the means of production, government takeover of supermarkets, and abolishing private property ownership. If we are to preserve the American Dream for future generations, we must push back against these dangerous and destructive ideas, which are the very same policies millions of immigrants came to the United States to escape.
I will always stand up for you and our shared values to ensure the United States of America never becomes a socialist nation.
