It's past time for serious permitting reform.


Desert News (11/23/25) opinion: "Utah’s economy is on the verge of a major expansion, brought on by President Trump’s election and agenda, that is set to unleash our economy, particularly in the energy space. As a leader in the Rocky Mountain region in oil and natural gas with an increasingly important critical mineral and transportation sector, energy production is part of the lifeblood of our state. Congress must act and pass comprehensive permitting reform to fix unending NEPA delays to railways, all varieties of energy projects, and grid development projects that protect our national energy dominance and security. With the already proposed bipartisan Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, Utah’s senators can cement their legacy as energy champions by supporting permitting reform. This will unleash our energy capacity and cement previous OBBB wins that we desperately need to lift up our economy, bring back jobs and support families."

Newsom seems committed to destroying California's future.


Fox News (11/24/25) opinion: "As California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom traveled to Brazil touting his failed energy agenda in mid-November, the reality back home is unavoidable: because of his policies, Californians are paying some of the highest gas and electricity prices in the nation. We are being crushed by the Newsom energy affordability crisis — and it’s crippling our national security.  Since 2018, more than 360 energy companies have left California due to the state’s debilitating regulations and new oil drilling permits have fallen by 95% since Newsom assumed office in 2019. As a result, California has produced nearly 128 million fewer barrels of oil per day over the past five years — despite holding the fifth-largest petroleum reserves in the country. The undeniable consequence of Newsom’s refusal to support domestic production is a greater reliance on foreign oil."

The days of Russia bullying its neighbors is over.


Wall Street Journal (11/21/25) reports: "President Trump’s turn against Russia’s economy is ripping through oil markets. The price of Russian oil is trading at its biggest discount to Brent since 2023. Ships laden with sanctioned crude are adrift at sea. And big importers, such as China and India, are now seeking to buy crude from elsewhere. U.S. sanctions announced last month on Russia’s largest oil producers, Lukoil and Rosneft, finally kicked in on Friday. The measures are already starting to reshape global supply lines and test Moscow’s ability to sell crude, the lifeblood of its economy. About 240 million barrels of oil have built up on the sea since the end of August to mid-November, said David Wech, chief economist at Vortexa. Of those, roughly a third are sanctioned barrels—with some would-be buyers wary of taking delivery, at least temporarily—and another 80 million are in long-haul transit from the Americas to Asia, he said."

Keep on overhaulin'.


E&E News (11/20/25) reports: "The Department of Energy unveiled a reorganization Thursday that rebrands key offices and relocates a 1970s renewable and efficiency office, the latest move by the Trump administration to boost fossil fuels, minerals and nuclear power. The plan posted on DOE’s website no longer shows the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, the Office of State and Community Energy Programs, the Office of Federal Energy Management Program and the grid deployment office. It was not immediately clear whether the work of those offices is changing or is being rebranded. Energy Secretary Chris Wright hailed the changes as aligning DOE 'to restore commonsense to energy policy, lower costs for American families and businesses, and ensure the responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.'"
