John -- In 2017, I stood alongside thousands of fellow West Virginians to demand Shelley Moore Capito vote “no” on Betsy DeVos’s confirmation as Secretary of Education.
As a mom and a product of public schools, I saw DeVos for what she was: the epitome of the “swamp.” Now, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, DeVos is making her worst threat yet: to pull federal funding from districts that don’t fully reopen this fall.
I’m not just going to drain this swamp - I’m going to flush it completely. Can you give $10, $15, $20, or any amount you can to help us make that happen?
Capito VOTED TO CONFIRM this shockingly unqualified and greedy woman. How can DeVos claim schools are safe, when COVID-19 is raging out of control across wide portions of the country? It’s outrageous! We are witnessing the dire consequences of electing people who don’t care about us.
Unlike our current senator, I won’t be cowed into blind obedience. I’ve been fighting for the people who most need someone in their corner and once I’m in the Senate, I’ll keep fighting. I’ll claw back every destructive policy that’s been put in place under Capito’s watch - including this latest threat to public schools.
I am fighting for the health and safety of every child in West Virginia. Stand with me TODAY by giving whatever you can to sustain our fight.
Public education is the one social escalator we’re all supposed to get a ride on. By threatening public education, everything America’s supposed to stand for - equality and opportunity - is threatened. Capito and DeVos didn’t attend public schools. The value and potential for opportunities through public education are lost on them.
We LITERALLY cannot afford another six years of this utterly non-representative “leadership.”
Are you with us?
In solidarity,
Paula Jean
