Dear John,
When I was first elected to Congress, Georgia’s unemployment rate was almost 7%. I knew that needed to change. Through years of hard work, I helped reduce Georgia’s unemployment to 3.4%.
Then the Great Recession hit hard, and unemployment soared once more. And once more, I worked in Appropriations committees and collaborated across the aisle to bring the figure from over 10% down to, as of last December, 3%.
The COVID-19 pandemic has hurt the people of Georgia in many ways, particularly in employment. This past April recorded an unemployment rate over 12.5% – higher than the peak during the recession.
This cannot continue.
Last month, I helped pass the Moving Forward Act, a vital bill that will renew our infrastructure and create over 2 million jobs across the transportation, construction, education, and energy sectors. Every day, I continue to fight for job creation, small business, and the fundamentally American opportunity to work hard and earn a living.
I have successfully reduced unemployment before, and I will do it again. As a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, I possess the expertise to recognize problems, identify solutions, and work across the aisle to make measurable changes for the working families of America.
John, if you would like me to continue this work in Congress, I need to ask you to donate to my reelection campaign. I need your support more than ever, and every dollar counts.
