Friend,
I’m Lynne Walz. I’m writing to you today as a lifelong Nebraskan who’s been doing a lot of thinking about the direction our state is headed, and what kind of leadership we truly deserve.
Today I’m launching an exploratory committee for Governor of Nebraska. In every job I’ve ever had, the first step is always listening. So I’m excited to hit the road across Nebraska to meet you, hear your hopes and dreams, and build this campaign from the ground up. Before we can fix anything in Lincoln, we have to start a real conversation.
My roots aren’t political; they’re right here in the Nebraska soil. I grew up on a small hog farm near Fontanelle, where my brother and I took care of the animals while my dad worked construction. That experience taught me grit, faith, and compassion.
My path has always been about everyday experience. I’ve been a teacher, run a daycare, and worked as an advocate for people with developmental disabilities. I understand the daily struggles of working families because I’ve been right there with them.
If you believe in leadership built on real, everyday experience, would you consider a contribution today? Even $10 helps us gather the initial resources we need to truly start this exploratory effort. [ [link removed] ]
When I ran for the Legislature in 2016, I wasn’t a political insider. My community knew and trusted me, which is why I swung the district 36 points to win the seat. My neighbors re-elected me by 19 points because they knew I was there to listen, all while Trump won my district by 33 points.
In the Legislature, I focused on getting things done with decency. As Chair of the Education Committee, I brought diverse groups together to find solutions. I passed more legislation than any other Democrat in two terms — on issues like mental health and infrastructure — by building trust across party lines.
Right now, our state leadership feels more focused on political noise than on core economic issues. We’re watching Governor Pillen get tangled up in divisive issues while we fall behind on the fundamentals that actually matter: education, business development, and growing our local economies.
I believe in a commonsense, compassionate approach that focuses on solutions, not division. I want to bring cooperation and common sense back to leadership in Lincoln.
I’m ready to take the next step, but a big effort starts small. This exploratory phase allows us to hire staff and cover the travel costs to get out and meet folks across the state. I need your help to start this engine.
Will you chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can afford today to become a founding donor of my exploratory committee? [ [link removed] ]
The future of Nebraska deserves leadership built on listening, decency, and practical experience. Let’s start that work together.
With gratitude,
Lynne Walz
