My office took action last Friday, supported by Washington’s colleges and universities, and filed a lawsuit to stop President Trump’s international student visa rule from harming our state.
The policy was so unlawful, the Department of Justice didn’t even try to defend it. And President Trump was forced to back down.
Once again, the Trump Administration withdrew an illegal, harmful policy after my office filed a legal challenge.

In Washington state, approximately 27,000 international students attend colleges and universities. The proposed rule violated the law, endangered public health, and threatened a billion dollars in tuition payments and economic activity benefitting our state.
Not on my watch.
