This year’s elections marked a major shift. Republicans have held a two-thirds supermajority in our State Senate for six years now, and it’s been decades since Democrats added seats in the legislature.
But those days are over now.
Breaking the supermajority means restoring checks and balances — Senate Republicans won’t be able to unilaterally override the governor’s veto or advance state constitutional amendments on their own.
And Mississippi Senate Democrats will keep fighting to lower costs, create good jobs, and make sure everyone in our state can make their voices heard.
