Whenever I’m moving through Central and Northwestern Illinois, I hear from dozens, if not hundreds, of constituents about the same thing: The importance of protecting access to affordable, high-quality health care.
People in our district -- including seniors on fixed incomes -- are about to see their monthly payments nearly quadruple overnight. That means folks skipping prescriptions. Delaying doctor visits. Falling into debt. All while Republicans hand tax breaks to billionaires and Big Pharma.
This isn't inevitable, friend, if we don't accept it.
To every Republican in Congress: put up or shut up. The American people are exhausted with your fake outrage over the cost of health care.
As one of the leading voices for science in Congress, I'm doing everything to make my Republican colleagues gain some common sense -- and if not, help get them out of office.
And right now, what we need is our collective voice to be so overwhelming that they can't ignore our truth: That we can fund healthcare properly. That affordable healthcare is a human right.
