WIIS would like to bring two recent publications to your attention:

First, to mark the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325), Women In International Security (WIIS) and the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Washington, DC launched an international essay competition—1325AndBeyond. Please find 1325AndBeyond: Winning Essays here. The essays in this volume underscore the global importance of the WPS agenda and present innovative ideas on how to move the WPS agenda forward. I hope you will share these essays widely and take their recommendations to heart.

Second, we would like to share the publication of The Gender and Security Agenda: Strategies for the 21st Century (London: Routledge, July 2020). The book examines the gender dimensions of a wide array of national and international security challenges and is the product of a two-year WIIS research project. Please find a flyer of the book with a 20% promo code here.
This summer, Women's Foreign Policy Group (WFPG) and Women In International Security (WIIS) will co-host monthly virtual career development events. Throughout these events, participants will build upon important career development skills and connect with professionals in international affairs.

Our third webinar event entitled Federal Service: Navigating applications and landing your first job will be held on July 16th. There will be a panel from 1:00 - 1:45 PM EDT followed by breakout sessions from 1:45 - 2:15 PM EDT. What does a career in federal international affairs look like and what does the application process entail ? Learn about different pathways to government service, how to decipher usajob.gov, and what opportunities exist both in Washington and overseas in a variety of government agencies.

This event is co-sponsored with Women's Foreign Policy Group (WFPG) and the Robertson Foundation for Government. Registration is free for WIIS and WFPG members. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
