Getting Back to Work in Washington, D.C.

After returning to Washington this week, Andrew immediately got back to work advancing priorities that matter to Long Island families, from strengthening national security and America's energy industry to condemning socialism in America. With urgent issues before Congress, Andrew remains focused on bipartisan solutions and ensuring Long Islanders have a strong voice in the nation’s capital.

“Whether it is fighting for public safety, pushing for real tax relief, or ensuring transparency for the American people, my focus remains the same. I am here to deliver results for the hardworking families of New York’s Second Congressional District. I was happy to get back to work in Washington, D.C. this week fighting for the issues that matter most to our community.

Andrew’s team attended the event and thanked the officers and their partners for their continued service in keeping Long Island communities safe. Suffolk’s K9 teams play a vital role in crime prevention, search and rescue, and supporting the safety of neighborhoods across our district.

Giving Back: Turkeys for Veterans

Andrew applauds the Community Ambulance Company in Sayville, the Lt. Michael Murphy Museum, and partners across Long Island for organizing an annual Thanksgiving turkey distribution for local veterans. This year, 300 turkeys and bags filled with Thanksgiving essentials were provided to veterans in need.

Andrew especially thanks the students from St. John the Baptist Girls Lacrosse and Connetquot High School kickline, who collected items and wrote personal thank-you letters to veterans.

Honoring a New Eagle Scout

Andrew’s team attended the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Thomas Robert McCreery of Bay Shore and presented a Certificate of Congressional Recognition on Andrew’s behalf.

Thomas has shown outstanding leadership, academic achievement, and dedication to community service. Andrew congratulates him on earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Dedication of the Joseph E. Keyes Parks & Recreation Center

The Patchogue community gathered this week to honor the life and legacy of Joseph E. Keyes, a beloved public servant who passed away earlier this year. Joseph served as a Village Trustee and Commissioner of Parks & Recreation, Waterfront Development, and Environmental Protection.

Andrew joins the community in celebrating his unwavering commitment to Patchogue and the many lives he touched through his decades of service.

CASEWORK HIGHLIGHT: Recovering a $20,003 Refund for a NY-02 Constituent

Recently, a constituent contacted Andrew’s office after believing the IRS had recorded a payment he never made. After working with the Taxpayer Advocate Service, it was determined the payment was made, but the IRS records were inconsistent, delaying a substantial refund owed to the family.

Andrew’s team coordinated directly with the Taxpayer Advocate Service and IRS personnel to correct the record and expedite the release of the refund. As a result, the constituent received $20,003 that the family had been counting on.

Whether it’s the VA, Social Security, Medicare, the IRS, passports, or other federal services, Andrew’s team is always ready to step in and get answers. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out, helping constituents is one of the most important parts of Andrew’s job. Please contact our office and our team will get to work on your case.

KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS

Votes this week

Andrew voted for several key measures this week, including legislation to advance the release of the remaining Epstein files, a resolution condemning socialism, and a bill to strengthen public safety by reforming Washington, D.C.’s cashless bail system.

This week, Andrew led floor debate as the House passed 13 bipartisan Homeland Security bills to strengthen national security cyber defenses across the country. Among these measures was the PILLAR Act, which extends the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program through 2035 to ensure state and local governments have the tools needed to protect critical networks.

Strengthening America’s Energy Infrastructure

This week, Andrew participated in a roundtable discussion with fellow New York Representative Mike Lawler and leaders from across the energy sector.

The conversation focused on improving grid reliability, securing domestic supply chains, and ensuring that families and businesses have access to affordable, dependable energy.

Andrew Supports Italian Trade and Affordable Pasta

Andrew joined a bipartisan group of Members of the Italian American Congressional Delegation in urging the White House to reconsider proposed tariffs on pasta products imported from Italy. These tariffs would raise prices for American families and place unnecessary strain on the strong cultural and economic relationship between the United States and Italy.

Andrew believes it is important to support fair trade, protect consumers, and preserve the long-standing ties that connect millions of Italian American families to their heritage.
