Follow-On Cancer Drugs Target Earlier Stages Than Initial Drugs: Implications Of The IRA ([link removed] )

In an ahead-of-print article published this week, Tomas J. Philipson and coauthors explore how mandates from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) resulted in shortening the exclusivity period ([link removed] ) used to recoup research and development investments as well as support follow-on innovation.

The study shows that oncology follow-on approvals frequently shift to earlier disease stages, a trend that may be accelerated by IRA-induced incentives.
