I Have Never Been Reluctant to Elect More Republicans to Congress

[[link removed]][link removed]

In July, there was a Texas Tribune story claiming that some Texas Republicans were reluctant to redraw Texas’ congressional maps. Let me be clear: I was never one of the reluctant! [[link removed]]

As I said, I was in support of electing more Republicans to Congress from Texas from the beginning. Click here to watch [[link removed]] a short clip [[link removed]] of what I said in June before Gov. Abbott added redistricting to the special session call.

I passed new congressional maps in the Texas Senate so Texans could elect more Republicans to Congress. Accusations of racial discrimination were ridiculous then and ridiculous now.

Judge Jerry Smith gets it. In his opinion issued yesterday, Judge Smith wrote, “the obvious reason for the 2025 redistricting of course is partisan gain[.]”. He also said, “In my 37 years on the federal bench, this is the most outrageous conduct by a judge that I have ever encountered in a case in which I have been involved,” he said. “If the two judges on this panel get away with what they have done, it sets a horrendous precedent that ‘might makes right’ and the end justifies the means.”

I urge the U.S. Supreme Court to take quick action to allow all our conservative Texans to have conservative Republican representation in Congress!

Cutting the Ribbon to the Alamo Promenade, Another Step in the Alamo Rebuild

I was privileged to speak at the Alamo yesterday for the new promenade’s ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Alamo Trust President and CEO Hope Andrade and the new mayor of San Antonio.

We are nearing the halfway mark of the Alamo Project, which is currently on time and on budget for its 2027 grand opening.

If you haven’t visited the Alamo in a while, you’ll notice a new 18-pound cannon at the front gate. The promenade will also include a walk of historic statues.

Texans remember and love our Alamo, and it’s well on the way to becoming the premier historic destination in the United States.

Three People Are Keeping Proposition 14 (DPRIT) from Becoming Law After Texas Voters Passed It With Nearly 70% Support

[[link removed]][link removed]

This past Election Day, November 4, 2025, Texas voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 14 to create the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) with over 68.5% of the vote. Unfortunately, three people jointly filed a lawsuit to stop the will of Texas voters, claiming voting machines were faulty.

Surprisingly, none of the other propositions were challenged in court under this pretense. This attack on DPRIT is disgusting and is a disservice to the roughly 500,000 Texans who suffer from some form of dementia, and their families who suffer along with them.

Rest assured, we will triumph in the end!

I had a fantastic fireside chat at the Dallas Regional Chamber’s State of the State event on Thursday. I spoke with CEO Dale Petroskey about the importance of economic growth and business in our great state, especially in the Dallas area.

The Dallas area is a major economic engine for our state with a very bright future!
