John, Ohio was the only state constitutionally required to redraw its map this year. We came dangerously close to a maximally gerrymandered map.
But thanks to our efforts, Ohio lawmakers from both sides of the aisle passed a map that averted the worst-case scenario.
You’d think these developments would help Republicans across the country take a hint that these politically-motivated mid-decade redraws are wildly unpopular. But the map manipulators aren’t taking their ball and going home. They didn’t get their dream in Ohio — so they’re doubling down in other states, with their sights set on New Hampshire, Indiana, Kansas, and Florida.
They will stop at nothing to rig our democracy, and so we have to stop at nothing to defend it.
