This week we announced the nationwide expansion of Ground Truth, our
people-powered, tech-enabled canvassing program that is changing how
Democrats talk with voters. Through Ground Truth, Swing Left volunteers
are knocking every door in swing districts, listening deeply, capturing
what voters actually think, and sharing those insights with campaigns to
help Democrats win back control in 2026, 2028, and beyond.
Earlier this year, we piloted 25 Ground Truth canvasses in swing districts
across the country, and what we learned was striking.
About 1 in 4 voters classified as Republican in voter files actually
expressed explicit concern about Trump, openness to voting for Democrats,
or alignment with progressive priorities. These are possibly persuadable
voters that traditional outreach methods routinely miss.
This is the powerful potential of Ground Truth—when we expand who we talk
to and improve how we talk with them, we can uncover real opportunities to
grow support for Democrats. Now we need to unlock that potential by
scaling this program across all of our swing districts nationwide.
But it’s only going to work if we do it together. Ground Truth is an
ambitious program that will take significant resources to run at scale,
and grassroots donations from our community will be an important part of
making it possible.

and all of the on-the-ground organizing work Swing Left is doing across
the country.

With your help, we can support and scale:
* Local organizing teams that work and specialize in each target
district. These organizers will recruit and train volunteer leaders,
support them in organizing and running Ground Truth canvasses, and
connect new volunteers with their local Swing Left groups. They will
also help host local events to engage the community and bring more
people into this work. The more organizers we have, the more voters we
can reach and listen to—maximizing the impact of Ground Truth.
* A national organizing team to mobilize volunteers everywhere. Not
everyone lives in one of our target swing districts. This team will
recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers outside swing districts to
travel to and knock doors with Ground Truth in the swing districts
closest to them. They will also run and manage phone banks for
volunteers across the country to call voters in target
districts—ensuring anyone, anywhere can be a part of Ground Truth.
* New tech platforms and an expanded data and engineering team. Ground
Truth utilizes an innovative new canvassing app (which Swing Left
helped design!) to support the longer, open-ended conversations
volunteers are having with every voter. This reimagining of outdated
systems requires new infrastructure needed to listen to voters at
scale. The data and engineering team will be critical to supporting
the tools underlying Ground Truth, and for compiling insights to share
with campaigns—to help them deliver on voters’ needs and win close
races.
Completely reimagining the way Democrats do voter contact is a big task.
But Ground Truth has shown promising early results. Together, we can scale
this program to make a meaningful difference in swing districts in 2026
and defeat Republicans in more competitive elections in the years to come.
