Dear MoveOn member,
GivingTuesday, which started as an online movement countering the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, is just over a week away.
Nonprofit organizations, including MoveOn, count on donations raised during GivingTuesday for a significant portion of their budgets.
We know that times are tough for many. But MoveOn is only able to do our work fueled by financial support from members like you, and we are currently falling behind on our goals. Which is why we are launching a campaign to raise $375,000 by GivingTuesday to close the gap and prepare us for the fights to come.
So if you can afford it, can we count on you to include MoveOn in your GivingTuesday donations? Click here to pitch in $9 or whatever you can. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
For 26 years, MoveOn and our members have worked to build a more equitable, more just, and more sustainable future. As an organization with millions of voices, we've led the fight against right-wing extremism, fought to strengthen our democracy, and defended our fundamental freedoms.
We're proud of what we've accomplished together with our millions of members, including you. And as we contend with the first year of Donald Trump's second term and plan for the crucial 2026 midterm elections, we want to make it clear: We're not going to slow down. We will go all-out to stop Trump's attacks on our communities, freedoms, and the economy, and we will build a better future where everyone can thrive.
Can you join us in our drive to raise $375,000 by GivingTuesday? Click here to pitch in $9, or whatever you can, to MoveOn. (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
The 2026 midterms will be a decisive election for America's future, and MoveOn has a plan to mobilize millions of people, galvanize a historic blue wave, put a stop to Trump and MAGA Republicans' abuses of power, and usher in a new generation of leaders.
MoveOn is uniquely qualified to make this happen, with decades-long expertise in research, innovation, and mobilization. As former Labor Secretary Robert Reich says, "No organization in America has a better track record of success in developing cutting-edge strategies to get out the vote and win elections than MoveOn."
And for the 2026 election, we'll need to launch the largest midterm program in MoveOn's history.
We have to inspire voters to turn out—and MoveOn knows just how to connect with potential voters. In previous elections, we've turned out millions using innovative tactics, like enabling volunteers to connect with potential voters directly from the comfort and safety of their own homes—including sending hundreds of millions of text messages directly to potential voters to remind them to cast their ballots.
We have to fight back against Trump and Republicans' plan to steal the election.1 In state after state, Republicans have engaged in extreme partisan gerrymandering and redistricting to secure outsized power with a minority of votes.2 To counter this, California's governor introduced and voters approved Proposition 50, a ballot measure to redraw the state's congressional map. But there's more work that needs to be done around the country.
We need to help elect candidates who will fight for us. Under Trump's command, Republicans in Congress have shown extreme cruelty toward the American people. They passed the "One Big Beautiful Bill" that took away health coverage from millions of Americans and substantially cut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). And later, during the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, they refused to give SNAP benefits to American families—an unthinkable cruelty, when 1 in 8 people in the U.S. need SNAP to pay for groceries.3 MoveOn will endorse candidates who will fight for working families, and we’ll help them win. Affordability is the defining issue heading into the 2026 midterms, with 40% of Americans saying in a recent poll that candidates' positions on the cost of living will be the single biggest factor in their vote next year.4 MoveOn can help turn our country's affordability crisis into a turning point for progressive change.
MoveOn's midterm campaign will be large scale and resource intensive, but that's what this moment calls for. We know what it will take to win because we've run these programs before—and won: In 2020 and 2022, the record turnout defeated dozens of voter-suppression efforts, flipping the Senate in 2020 and reelecting Senator Raphael Warnock in 2022. In 2022, MoveOn ran the largest relational organizing program in the country. Because of you and millions of Americans like you, 2022 became the most successful midterm election for a party in power in years, and Democrats took back control of the House of Representatives.
We believe that we can win in 2026—but we can't do it without your help.
We will launch our full midterm program early next year, but based on our fundraising, we have to make decisions now that will determine how big it can be. Can you help us reach our goal of raising $375,000 by GivingTuesday? (If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately.)
MoveOn's firing on all cylinders, and we are so grateful that we can rely on grassroots support from MoveOn members like you.
Thanks for all you do.
