At the end of this email, I’m going to ask you to chip in $3 ahead of my end-of-month deadline. But before I do, please let me explain the increasingly high stakes in my race.

If these last several weeks have shown us anything, it’s that Republicans are simply unfit to govern. While the shutdown is over, they are still refusing to go to bat for working families who are seeing their healthcare premiums and other costs skyrocket.

Instead of working across the aisle with us, the GOP is digging in their heels. And earlier this week, President Trump suggested that members of Congress be put to death just because he disagrees with them.

This kind of behavior is unprecedented, dangerous, and wrong. We cannot stand for it.

Back at home in IL-13, I’m facing multiple challengers in this race who want to stick to this new status quo. Believe me when I tell you that I’ve never been more fired up to protect this seat from the GOP – and take the House majority.

These last few months before the midterm election year are critical to our progress. We’re building a campaign by and for Central and Southern Illinois – expanding our on-the-ground voter outreach and making sure folks have their voices heard.
