Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson

Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District.

IN THE HOUSE

Since the beginning of this year, President Trump and Congressional Republicans have been delivering real results for hardworking American families—and they are just getting started. Take a look below at some of the promises made and promises kept by Republicans.

This week, House Republicans advanced legislation to unleash reliable American energy and codify more of President Trump's executive orders. Following House passage of the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2025 and the REFINER Act on Thursday, Speaker Johnson said, "President Trump and Congressional Republicans are working together to unleash reliable American energy to lower costs for families, support American workers and energy producers, and ensure America is never again held hostage by radical climate bureaucrats and activists."

On Friday, nearly 100 Democrats voted against Republicans' simple bill to denounce socialism, which has miserably failed everywhere it has been tried and has stolen over 100 million lives.

Additionally, House Republicans passed two more bills to codify President Trump's Executive Order confronting the crime crisis in our nation's capital. Following House passage of the CLEAN D.C. Act and the District of Columbia Cash Bail Reform Act of 2025, Speaker Johnson said, "These reforms reflect Republicans’ continued commitment to restore law and order in the nation’s capital and provides a model for other Democrat-run cities plagued by rising crime." HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

On Tuesday, Speaker Johnson attended the McDonald's Impact Summit to mark their 70th anniversary and discuss Republicans' work to restore commonsense, pro-growth policies and bring down prices for the hardworking men and women who keep our economy moving.

At the weekly House Republican Leadership press conference, Speaker Johnson discussed House Republicans’ efforts to deliver maximum transparency and ensure justice for victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s heinous crimes. During the press conference, Speaker Johnson addressed the Democrats’ newfound interest in the Epstein files, saying, "The Biden Department of Justice had the files the entire time, and not a single one of the people who were so loud and animated right now ever said anything about it for all those four years."  Click the image below to watch Speaker Johnson's remarks.

LAGNIAPPE

Northwest Louisiana is mourning the tragic shooting of Vivian Police Officer Marc Brock. He was an extraordinary young man who touched many lives, many people through his life and volunteer coaching activities. We’ve experienced a great loss of a true community servant. Our hearts and prayers go out to Marc’s fiancé and family, and of course to his friends and fellow officers—who take tremendous risks every single day to keep their fellow citizens safe and free. God bless the peacemakers.

Speaker Johnson shared the following message after Ruston Fire Chief Chris Womack tragically passed away this week: "Our prayers are with the family, friends, and everyone who served alongside Ruston Fire Chief Chris Womack. He was a faithful public servant who served for over 30 years and led the Ruston Fire Department for a decade—recently receiving a Class 1 fire rating for the first time in department history. As the son of a firefighter, I understand the sacrifice that Chief Womack and his family made each day for the people of north Louisiana. He was a selfless leader who devoted his life to the safety of those around him, and we join the community of Ruston in mourning his passing.

Speaker Johnson is honored and proud to represent the great people of Louisiana's 4th Congressional District. He is always grateful for your support. Never hesitate to reach out.
