Friend, three years ago this month, voters here in Massachusetts approved the Fair Share “millionaire tax” — a small percentage tax increase on income over one million dollars.
Opponents of this idea said it would be a complete failure. Conservatives argued that the wealthy would flee from Massachusetts, and that our economy would suffer.
But three years later, here’s the truth. It’s been a huge success.
A new study shows that:
This is why our movement is fighting to Tax the Rich. It’s a necessary tool to make sure that the working class shares in the wealth they create for their communities, and the results speak for themself.
For years now, I’ve been a proud co-sponsor of legislation to bring this idea to the national stage.
A nation-wide wealth tax — a tiny percentage and a drop in the hat for billionaires like Elon Musk — would help us make new investments in health care, education, transportation, clean energy, and more that can drive down the cost of living for regular Americans.
That’s why it’s so important that progressives get involved in this race, and why we need the support of everyone who believes that the wealthy should pay their fair share as we fight for reelection.
